We come together because God has forgiven our sins and is changing us into new beings through the Love and Compassion of Jesus Christ. We are a nondenominational church where you can truly become a part.
When you visit the Church of our Lord Jesus, you will be greeted and assisted in locating where you want to go. We are respectful of your time, our worship assembly will last about one hour. Visitors are not required to participate in any aspect of the worship service and may just watch if they wish.
The people who make up the family of the Church come from all walks of life and have the normal pains, discouragement and problems. But, we face each challenge with the assurance that God provides for his children. You will find that we are an enthusiastic family very eager to spend eternity in heaven.
The Eufaula Church of Christ is a safe haven where you too can experience love, acceptance and forgiveness. If you are in search of a home church, we want you to know there is a special place just for you.
We are fully aware that we are not perfect and make mistakes far too often. We do not ask you to follow us, but to walk along with us as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, always seeking to "walk in the light". But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

We understand that many people want to know the nature of the services of a church before they attend. We are happy to share the following overview of the manner in which we worship, when we gather together.
We actively seek to be governed in all that we do only by the Holy Bible, which is the inspired Word of God. Sometimes we are asked: Does what we teach really make much difference? If it matters and it does, we must be able to support our beliefs by the Word of God. We would invite you to consider the principles upon which the Church is based and the Holy Scriptures referenced.
2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Our services are patterned after the Church
of the first century, which were
very simple. Our worship services include only those elements revealed in the New Testament.
We sing, pray, partake of the Lord’s supper, preach the Word of God for the instruction of all and give of our means, as we have purposed in our hearts for the spreading of the gospel and the care of poor.
Each part is designd to bring all worshipers closer to God and to provide Spiritual Strength. In all we do, we seek to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and
in truth.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
The religious world of today is divided into almost countless
denominations and
sects, using different traditions and names. Finding no scriptural support, we use no denominational governmental organization, creed, doctrine or name.
We are known as Christians, just as believers were known in the days of the Apostles, when there was only one Church. Collectively, we are known as the Church of Christ.
Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
All the
men leading the worship service, except for our preacher, Charlie Bailey, are
volunteers who are members of the Church.
Several prayers are offered to God during each service. The man leading the prayer will speak from his heart, rather than reading from a book or reciting a series of memorized statements. Everyone usually quietly bows their heads and closes their eyes while the prayer is being offered.
1Timothy 2:1
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Music
The congregation will sing several songs, led by one of our members during the service. You are welcome to sing along. The song leader will announce the number of the song. The words and music can be found in the red book, in the rack in front of you.
Since we live and worship under the New Covenant or Testament, members of the Church of Christ sing without the aid of any type of instrumental music. This was the pattern set by the early Church in the first century and therefore is the pattern we follow.
In the Old Testament they did, in fact, worship God with harps and other instruments. However, in the New Testament there is no directive or mention of using any type of musical instrument in the worship of God. Only vocal music is mentioned in the Church of the New Testament, so we use only our voices in this part of the service. This type of music is called acappella.
Does it really matter? It matters to those who wish to strictly obey and be pleasing to God, rather than following the ideas and doctrines of men. The Christian gives of himself, in worship, when he sings from the heart and his spirit is lifted.
Ephesians 5:19
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
The Lord's Supper
The Lord's Supper or Communion is served every Sunday to all who wish to partake. Jesus instituted His Supper for us to remember what he did for us on the Cross. After offering a prayer, men will pass plates of unleavened bread. All those who wish to partake will remove a small piece and pass the plate to the person sitting next to them. Next, after offering thanks to God, the men will pass trays of small cups of the grape juice. Those who partake, remove one, drink it, return the cup to the tray and pass it on.
Acts 20:7
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Giving of Our Means
Our regular members give of their means and lay by in store, as God had prospered them, every Sunday in order to support the various ministries of the Church. Visitors are not expected to contribute, unless they wish to. Immediately following the Lord's Supper, after a brief prayer, plates are passed for the purpose of collecting the offerings.
1 Corinthians 16:2
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Who are planning their retirement
Lake Eufaula is a Great
Place To Retire.
Our Congregation Needs You.
We are located near highway 69, just 25 miles north of McAlester, Oklahoma, nestled on the shores of Lake Eufaula. The village of Eufaula is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. You don't have to look very far to find a friendly face and a warm smile.
Lake Eufaula is a great fishing lake (the largest in Oklahoma) with good hunting in the area.
Property taxes are quite low and quality housing can be purchased at very reasonable prices.
We are a stable, conservative, main-line mission church. Charlie Bailey, our full time Minister, has served the congregation, since 1989.
We need sound workers to retire in our area to help in the work of the Master. Come and visit to get acquainted. Spend a few days vacation and get to know us.
If you love the Lord and want to remain active in His vineyard when you
retire, this is your opportunity.
